Open Air Art: Two Days in Nikola Lenivets Art Park – Day 1: Moscow - Borovsk - Nikola Lenivets

We leave in the morning from Moscow, on the way we capture a tiny town Borovsk. Haven't you heard of it? And not once he defended the capital from enemy raids - Tatar hordes, troops of Falsdmitry and Napoleon, fascists. There is a real "Russian spirit" hovering in Borovsk. Besides monasteries and churches, the city boasts the best open-air gallery in the entire Kaluga region. In the afternoon we arrive at the park "Nikola Lenivets" - the largest art park in Europe. We wander there in the fields and forests until sunset, lying in the hay, climbing on the art objects, gnawing grass and remember to take pictures.

Scenic Lookouts

Tiny Borovsk is the quintessence of coziness in the Russian backwoods. You can walk here for half a day, but if you don't go to museums, you can fit in 1-2 hours. Don't be in a hurry. Relax on the hilly beaches of Protva. Admire the resting houses with lace shutters. And the main thing - look at all the frescoes on the walls of houses: it's a special "chip" of old Borovsk.

Loft Restaurant & Bar

Mediterranean Restaurants, Eastern European Restaurants, Bars

I offer lunch in Obninsk, in the restaurant Loft. It can be praised not only for its excellent interior, but also for its original author's dishes. The owners of the restaurant assure that they work with local farmers, and grow herbs and berries themselves. The menu includes oysters, seafood, fish and grilled meat. Bread, dough for pasta and desserts - own preparation. The bonus is the roof terrace with hammocks and atmospheric music.

Sculpture Gardens

A couple of hours drive among picturesque meadows and forests - and you in "Nikola-Lenivets". The park is open 24 hours a day, but the best place to walk is during the day. Park the car. Before sunset, you have a couple of hours to explore the northern part of the park. We'll leave the southern part with the most spectacular views in the morning. You can - and must - walk through the park. The whole route without stopping will take about 40 minutes, plus 15-20 minutes for each object. What to see: *- A snow-white Brodsky Rotunda with multiple doors * - Bernasconi's arch with a viewing platform and a bar; - The ambulance trail, a 50-meter trampoline; - a house of log cubes "Lazy Ziggurat" etc.

Угра Кафе

Diners

After sunset, life in "Nikola-Lenivets" is quiet. We have a leisurely dinner at Ugra Cafe. (works till 21:00), drink cider on wooden steps, contemplate the night sky and wonder at the number of stars. The painting changes completely during the festivals - for example, the children's and adults' "Archstoyanie". In the evenings it is very crowded, funny and noisy. If you value privacy, I advise you to choose days free of events for your trip.
