Maltsov Crystal Museum

The Maltsovs Crystal Museum has more than two thousand exhibits, mainly products of the Gusev Crystal Factory from the XVIII century to the present day, as well as unique author's works of Gusev glass artists. Among them products in the technique of "natsvet" (when on top of the colorless glass superimposed colored glass), which appeared in the Maltsovsky crystal factory in the early XX century. With the help of "natsvet" technique it was possible to make glass, imitating silver and gold. The museum building itself is unusual: it is located in St. George's Cathedral, built in 1892-1903 by the famous architect LN Benoit. Victor Vasnetsov created unique canvases to decorate the cathedral. After the reconstruction 2 of them were restored: the canvas "Last Judgment" with an area of 50 square meters and the mosaic "Rejoices, Blagodatnaya", collected from small pieces of glass. Next to the museum is a monument to the founder of the city - Akim Maltsov. Restaurant Maltsov

The restaurant's original interior (heavy wooden tables and chairs, old surroundings) is interesting, the dishes are stylized as old, cooked according to traditional Russian recipes. Temple of the Primordial Trinity

The Temple of the Living Trinity in Tume is unusual for its interior. It is decorated with frescoes by V. Vasnetsov, M. Nesterov, A. Ivanov and others. Some frescoes have similarities with other famous works of these artists: Vasnetsov's frescoes in St. Vladimir's Cathedral in Kiev, Ivan's painting "Christ's Appearance to the People" and others. Another highlight of the cathedral is a unique two-story iconostasis of white marble by Italian masters.

Trinity Cathedral

Trinity cathedral in Guse Iron was built in 1802 - 1868 by order of the largest industrialists Batashovs (they owned iron foundry in Guse Iron). The temple is interesting because it combines pseudo-Gothic, baroque and classical styles. There are still debates about which architect the cathedral was designed by. Among possible authors of the project: V. I. Bazhenov, I. S. Gagin, D. A. Gushchin and Bazhenov's pupil - I. T. Tamansky.

Anna Ganzen Museum

The Memorial Museum of Anna Hansen (the translator of fairy tales, she and her husband translated almost all Andersen's works into Russian) is the most soulful of all the museums in Kasimov. The museum is amateur, created by enthusiast and local historian A.N. Smirnov. The museum will be interesting to children, because A. Smirnov goes on excursion both in the image of Andresen, and in the image of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. During the tour he tells about the history of Kasimov and the people who lived there. To get to the museum is possible only with the excursion with A. Smirnov. To do this you should call in advance by phone +7(920)951-71-76.

Ascension Cathedral

Ascension Cathedral - one of the oldest cathedrals in Kasimov, it is known that it existed on this place already in the XVI century. Unfortunately, since that time the church burned down and rebuilt several times, and the bell tower (which was the tallest building in Kasimov) was completely dismantled into bricks under Soviet rule. The appearance that we see now, the temple has had since the XIX century. Not only Russian, but also Tatar architecture traditions are used in the decoration of the temple facades. The interior decoration of the temple is also unusual: in addition to icons in the temple there are picturesque paintings, painted on the main subjects of the Gospel. The cathedral is located in the very heart of the city - on Sobornaya Square, so if you still have strength after visiting it you can take a short walk around the neighborhood. Please note that the cathedral is open from 7:00 to 20:00.
